The length is:

the square root of [ (the difference in 'x' values)² + (the difference in 'y' values)² ]

D = √ [ (-2-6)² + (5-2)² ]

= √ [ (-8)² + (3)² ]

= √ (64 + 9) = √75 = 5√3 = 8.66 (rounded to 3 sig-figs)
