since x is squared, you immediately know that it multiples itself. (x)(x) is x^2. I used the FOIL method where you do first, outside, inside, last. so the first amount in each parentheses is a x and a x. that equals x^2. then the outside numbers are 7 and a x. That equals-7x. on the inside, I have +9 and x. that is +9x. Lastly, a -9 and -7 is -63. When written out in a number sentence, and combine like terms, you will get your original answer so (x+9)(x-7) is the factored form
