A common geographic  feature  among Central American countries (there are seven: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama) is the chain of rugged mountains that  extends through the middle of the region. The  highest point of this chain of mountains is 14,000 ft in Guatemala.
