Okay, so you would turn 2 1/2 into improper fraction (5/2)
Then, on the other fraction, do the same thing (5/2)
Now, multiply 5 x 5, the numerators (25)
Now, multiply 2 x 2, the denominators (4)
You have 25/4.
Now, reduce. 
4 x 6 = 24
6 1/4
