One major goal of Andrew Jackson's presidency was to address what he believed was corruption in the federal government in relation to the individuals who worked for the federal government. He argued that these individuals were put into their positions as repayment for their support of political elites. Therefore, he sought to reform this and create a system of rotation and reduce the level of corruption in who was appointed and hired by the federal government.
